Classroom teachers can use his work as a guide to understanding what it takes to write a grant proposal. Nowhere in a teacher's college education is anything like this taught, or for that matter, mentioned. Yet, teachers are constantly trying to be innovative and creative in their teaching. Sometimes, without funds it is hard to try the new and "impractical" in the classroom. With the guidance of Dr. Levenson's book, teachers are walked through the grant writing proposal step by step. But the book does not stop there!
He lists places where money can be found. The federal, state and local government all have some money earmarked for educational innovation. He lists them. Private funds and foundations, an area where money for the public school systems is growing rapidly, are listed and studied. Levenson tells what types of grants each foundation likes to fund (an extremely important idea).
As someone who has written and won school grants, I would have appreciated this book when I was a public school teacher. I think all school districts should have at least one copy of this book in each of their schools. It will encourage teachers to do what they can do best-teach, think, and write grants creatively.

In an era of diminishing resources, Stanley Levenson's book is an invaluable tool for schools and districts alike. His easy to follow recipe for writing winning grants gives school personnel the confidence to write their own proposals without the need of contracting an outside consultant. His book includes examples of successful proposals which he also uses to familiarize the reader of effective writing styles. What I also found tremendously helpful were his fresh and creative approaches to fundraising which many schools and school districts tend to overlook. For a very small but wise investment, our schools have profited from Dr. Levenson's insight. I'm sure many others would, too.

This is a very good book on the Overland Campaign of 1864. It is the story of the great campaign between Lee and Grant. The author writes very good character sketches of Lee, Longstreet, Ewell, and Hill. He also tells about the lower level officers of the Army of Northern Virginia. He does show bias against Longstreet who he does not think very highly of. Grant fans will not be too happy with some of the narrative. But it is a book about Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia not Grant and the Army of the Potomac. For the flip side of the coin I highly recommend Bruce Catton's "Surrender at Appomattox" which is an excellent account of the Army of the Potomac in these campaigns.

An excellent work that in my opinion captures the essence of the Confederate failure. Dowdy debunks the myths of Grant the butcher and the subsequent "Lost Cause" explaination that the South lost the war due to the overwhelming superiority of Northern numbers, industry, weaponry and supply. Dowdy places the blame with Jefferson Davis, Braxton Bragg, the CSA War Department and to some extent on P.G.T. Beauregard. The decentralized defensive strategy adopted by Davis, led to the inability by General Lee and other CSA field commanders to sufficiently concentrate the forces necessary to defeat the Union armies.

The author writes a simply marvelous history of the great generalship of an almost god-like Robert E. Lee.
Read how sheer numbers, not superior leadership, allowed U.S. Grant final victory.
Although I think this book is out of print, I would highly recommend any history or Civil War buff to search hard for it. They will not be dissapointed.

With dialogue by Alan Grant (Batman:Anarky, No Mans Land, etc) and art by Simon Bisley (Slaine), this comic is bound to be a success.

Lobo is a lunatic bountyhunter (more like bountyslayer) who has killed everyone on his birthplanet, just to be unique! The problem is that his old schoolteacher has survived and he has to protect her. The story is set in the DC Universe paralell to the Legion of Superheroes. Parts of the plot includes chainsaw ballet and a murderous spelling contest.

This is a good comic book and is recommendet to those who have read "Hitman" and such comics. Try this one instead, the original.

I picked up this book by Millard Erickson expecting a rather basic look at trinitarianism that might prove helpful in discussing the doctrine of the Trinity on a basic level with folks who have introductory level questions about it. And while it's true that the book is predominately a beginner level book, I nonetheless found it to be quite thorough in a number of places that I found very rewarding.

The book is less than 100 pages, and in it, Erickson seeks to tackle three main questions - is the Trinity biblical, is it rationally coherent, and is it at all relevant to anything. While there have certainly been more exhaustive treatises written which address the first two questions, I thought that Erickson did a good job of analyzing them at a top level while still being pretty thorough. His analysis of deviations from the orthodox view of the Trinity was especially good for purposes of making it clear to the reader that the Trinity is an exacting doctrine that requires both exacting language and exacting thought in order to be true to the Bible.

Erickson's attempt at sorting through the rationality of the 'Three in One' aspect of the Trinity was also very interesting, as was his analysis of Trinitarian prayer. In particular, I appreciated his analysis of the functional subordination aspect of the Trinity that is too often neglected in other studies of the Trinity, as well as his proper focus on the Holy Spirit which is likewise treated almost as an afterthought in many studies of the Trinity.

Overall, I think this is an outstanding beginner level book that not only takes on basic questions with easy to follow answers, but also digs a bit to take on more difficult questions both Biblically and philosophically. An outstanding resource for one who wants to become firmly rooted in the orthodox doctrine of the Trinity.

Though the previous reviewer was right in saying this is a short read, brevity does not mean lack of meaty content. Erickson dives in deep for just one-hundred pages. I hope to read it again soon to get a better grip on the content. Erickson does a great job of preseting both scriptural and philosophical arguments. His last section on the doctrine's importance and application to both individual and corporate worship/service unto God is also very helpful. A good book on a deep, but oh so important topic. Flaws in the nature of God ultimately equate a different gospel. The time has come for the church to stand against those within who are apathetic about rightly defining and acticulating this timeless truth.

It's difficult to produce a thorough yet concise volume on such a deep and complex subject as God in Three Persons which sheds fresh light on the Trinity rather than rehashes of what others have written over the ages. Most appreciated is keeping Scripture in the magisterial role with reason/logic in the ministerial role as all good exegetes should. The author does an excellent, though brief, job of sketching the history of the doctrine's development, metaphysical considerations, and outlines the relevance of God as Triune to the Christian today. More helpful would be analogies that help get a handle on 3 in 1: Egg=Shell+White+Yolk; Water is H2O, 3 atoms in 1 molecule, as well as water existing simultaneously(like a Minnesota cloud) as vapor,condensation,hail (solid, liquid, gas); not 1+1+1=3, but 1x1x1=1; volume=LxWxH; U.S. Gov't is Legislative, Executive, Judicial branches; human is body, mind, spirit;Divine Family is Father and Son and Holy Spirit. There is a careful balance maintaining the integrity of God as three persons yet one essence or Being. Of animal beings, there are trillions of members; of human beings there are billions of members; of Supreme Being there are three members. For a more comprehensive treatment, read author's larger volume, God in Three Persons.

A 2 year vacation with 3 sisters and your parents. Maybe some people would like to get away from everything for a while. Mary did, too, until it all becomes too much. Mary was sick of it. Mary, being the oldest, took a lot of responsibility over ger younger sisters. Almost enough to have them call her mom. Their real mom being pregnant doesn't help, either. Finally settled on the west coast, Mary hopes things will get better, but they only get worse. Mom starts retreating back to childhood and Dad is trying his hardest to believe his own lies. Mary is aware something has to be sone. She sees everything falling apart; what is there to do? The RV breaks down, which only makes Dad mad and turns him to drinking. Now, stuck there, no place to turn,no one to turn to, Mary finds a solution. Definitely not a easy one , but a permanet one. Mary Wolf never wanted to hurt anyone, she just wanted a home. This book is easy to relate to. You realize you don't always see how good you have it, until you see someone who has it worse. It's very easy to read through the book without putting it down once. So, don't have anything to do this afternoon? Pick up Mary Wolf by Cynthia D. Grant, and listen to her story.

The best book ever written! Beats Harry Potter!! Adrian, a solidified aura, travels to wonderful planets and meets Cree-L (A small man that rides in his pocket). He also meets Seth Biggs, Rhesus, walks through frozen fog, travels on rail bikes at great speeds and almost gets eaten by a Reozzy (A creature that is walking bait). You have to read the book to know what I'm talking about!

It was a pleasure to read this book. It is full of action similar to Indiana Jones--one event after another. And what made it especially worthwhile for me was that it contained no explicit sex, gore nor profanity. It is a fun book for a family - all ages from preteens on up. Once I started it I wanted to keep reading. For a good, clean , fun book--this is it.

W. Cleon Skousen's book 'The Naked Communist' is one of the finest works ever written on the subject of the communist conspiracy and should be read by everyone who loves the United States of America. Skousen does a wonderful job exposing the lies that communists have used since Karl Marx first wrote the communist manifesto. The book was written in the early sixties and it's amazing to see just how many predictions Skousen made that have come true. Skousen also points out the many flaws that has left the United Nations virtually powerless to stop aggressor nations. But perhaps the most interesting facts that Skousen sheds light on are the circumstances surrounding Roosevelt's concessions to Stalin and Truman's concessions to Mao. These 'Appeasers' made the same mistakes that Chamberlin made in his dealing's with Hitler in the 1930's. Many are quick to dismiss the spectre of Communism since the end of the cold war but America must remain ever vigilant and always beware the influences of the EXTREME left.

Still as timely as ever. Still as controversial as ever (the liberals hate it). A timeless primer for patriots.

That was back when the book was first written, when Communism was sweeping the globe, when American's were frightened by the prospects. But now, when the aims so skillfully exposed in this book are nearly to completion, people are so overcome by the propaganda that their repugnance to world socialism has been all but extinguished.

Now at BYU, in a required course for Poly Sci. majors, Stan Taylor methodically debunks Skousen's "Naked Communist" and Gary Allen's "None Dare Call it Conspiracy." Stan also sits on key policy-making boards for the LDS Church to determine the Church's stand regarding Communist nations. No wonder the Church has sunk so far in bed with the New World Order.

No, "Naked Communist" is not a best seller any more. Yes, "Naked Communist" is still one of the best books ever written about the communist conspiracy to establish world socialist government (e.g. New World Order). It is frightful to see how dangerously close they are to accomplishing their full objective.

But, in the end, as Skousen will happily agree, the Lord prevails. The reign of Satan's kingdom is transient. Meanwhile, it would be a good idea for the "Saints" to get with it or they are going to be toast.

I read the 1962 publication of the Naked Communist. What is utterly shocking about this book is that in 1962 it published the current communist goals of that era, and if you look at it today 95% of them have been accomplished already!! What is utterly shocking, is that the outlandish concessions,( ie communisums fall) is part of the communist stradagey in 1962!! After reading THE NAKED COMMUNIST You will understand communist thinking and then you will be shocked that communist thought is alive here in the U.S., and how uneducated the public is about it!!!

Having pursued many grants over the years, I anguish at the number of hours I could have saved with only a bit of the wisdom offered in Karsh and Fox's book. Herein we learn not only canny methodology, but correct protocols and language to keep our proposals off the junk heap.
Most remarkably, the material is presented in a jaunty style which belies the notion that grant-writing (or -reading) has to be an onerous or dryasdust task. "Realty checks" may spare you the agony of wondering whether your proposal dropped into a black hole. You can't write a successful grant proposal without inhabiting the mind of a grantmaker, and even failed proposals can fuel you for the next, successful foray.
I wouldn't dream of attempting another grant without this book at my side. Buy it!

The anecdotes and interviews made this book more than just a how-to book. It is so well written and presented that the pain of trying to understand the process is gone. It was good reading,too.

Illustrations are the pinnacle of the book. It is well organized and the procedures are clearly spelled out in a step-wise manner.

This is a great book to boost your office procedure skills and cut down on referrals for minor procedures. I found the book helpful with short and concise explinations, diagrams, and addresses of manufactures of products medtioned. The billing codes are also helpful when training billing staff. Very comprehensive and well worth the cost!
